Concept
“The only constant in life is change” - this was already known by the Greek philosopher Heraclitus. The modern world is changing even faster compared to ancient times, and we need to prepare and adapt quickly to these changes. Globalisation, urbanisation and digitalisation are affecting our everyday lives. In the last decade, we have experienced a dramatic shift in our day-to-day world. The emergence of remote and home office work, the development of a sharing economy (WeWork, Airbnb, Uber, …) and socio-demographic changes are just a few examples that will significantly further impact our future living spaces and our overall lives.
The future living project, as the first research project of the future of hospitality institute, focuses on the fast-growing serviced living sector – including serviced apartments, aparthotels, student accommodation, senior & assisted living, co-living, micro living and branded residences. The future living project is managed by the future of hospitality institute, a Vienna-based research organisation.
The project will start in April 2022 and will span over a period of 24 months. The goal of the research project is to identify major changes and innovations which will be relevant for the future of the serviced living sector. The future living project will bring together the project partners in applying cutting-edge know-how in their strategic planning and will define feasible living concepts based on applied research and shared experience.
